It is an aqueous solution of silver stabilised hydrogen peroxide, which has been approved for use in public water supplies by the Drinking Water Inspectorate.

LP Sterox is a non hazardous water treatment biocide used to clean and disinfect water systems and appliances. It is unique in providing a very wide spectrum of biocidal activity and will effectively treat all water borne bacteria and viruses.

LP Sterox is particularly valuable in modern water system hygiene management where more conventional treatments such as chlorination may be unsuitable.

LP Sterox is a safe and effective way of reducing the risk of Legionnaires disease for local authorities and social landlords.

To disinfect a 50 gallon (225 litre) tank use 626.22 ml of LP Sterox.

If you include the system, you would need to multiply 225 litre by 1.3 (= 292.5 litre) therefore use 814 ml of LP Sterox.

To disinfect a 300 litre tank (ex-system) use 835 ml of LP Sterox.

For disinfection, LP Sterox is dosed at a concentration of 200 ppm.

To calculate the quantity of LP Sterox required for disinfection: Measure the volume of the tank and multiply by 1.3 to achieve the volume of water in the system. (If there is no storage calorifier, multiply by 1.2)

For every cubic metre of system volume (calculated left) add 2.78 litre of LP Sterox.

So, if the system is:

1 cubic metre add 2.78 litre
2 cubic metre add 5.56 litre
3 cubic metre add 8.34 litre
4 cubic metre add 11.12 litre
5 cubic metre add 13.90 litre
6 cubic metre add 16.68 litre

NB. If the system is known to be dirty, or a positive legionella reading has been found in the system water, consideration should be given to doubling the dose
